Do You Think Dostoevsky Was Single?
Because this would be a helluva thing to say to a woman in a bar.
"Man is tormented by no greater anxiety than to find someone quickly to whom he can hand over that great gift of freedom with which the ill-fated creature is born."
- Fyodor Dostoevsky

I really don't get it.
Deaner
bookworm,
he doesn't say he's talking just about romantic relationships. religion, career, goverment, children are other things this applies to.
fwiw. dost was married a couple times i think. famously, he did marry his assistant who helped him write 'the gambler' to pay off a gambling debt. the movie 'alex and emma' is a modern (and shitty) adaptation of that relationship.
Yeah, I know that the quote wasn't really about gals at-all. I just thought I could twist old Fydie's words. He's dead, so, unless he's reading my notes from under ground...I'm sure he won't mind. Thanks for the comment though.
i don't get it either? Matt explain it to us, how does it apply to chicks in a bar?
maybe i didn't read it close enough...
